Piraeus is a company made up of Developers and Marketers, MBAs and Analysts, but at the core of what we do is business analysis.
The term Business Intelligence (BI) has grown to become a catch-all phrase for any and all reporting, regardless of whether or not it provides any actual utility. At Piraeus Data, Business Intelligence is defined as actionable information. Specifically, a dashboard needs to enable our clients to make informed, intelligent decisions on where to spend, where to save, and what projects, customers, or campaigns to pursue.
While the process differs depending on the business goals, there are some consistent elements throughout:
First, we uncover potential new data sources and identify inefficient processes. Next, we re-engineer processes as needed, often through automation. Then via reporting and analysis, we create a new awareness into ROI. This new access to reporting results in increased efficiency, accountability, and overall improved performance.
Well executed, defensible reporting changes companies. A central set of agreed upon metrics and goals tends to unify approaches across teams. Metrics must be a core driver of strategic direction and then provide insight into success or failure, mid-term, so that improvements can be made.
